


You may also immediately think of a writer of Lieder. Ah, you say, he must be the composer of the Unfinished Symphony. He died at age 31 after several years of illness. His music also often reveals his sense of his short time on earth. By contrast, he left an enormous legacy of music, some 1,500 pieces in so many genres. This week I speak of another composer gone too soon. I spoke of his premonition of early death. The French composer left a very small catalogue of works behind. Last week I wrote of Ernest Chausson-dead at age 45.
